Humble too strong as Murphy takes Yellow! - 31/08/09

Saturdays gruelling Points accumulator saw cold weather and choppy surf to go with the no wetsuits rule. Most feeling sore from last weekends nationals and due to the Celtic cup, some series competitors were on representative duty. However the quality races were there for all to see. Once again the3 mens competition was won by Dan Humble from Rob Sandbach and Garod Thomas in third place. The Womens competition saw Eva Murphy take the top of the leader board and the Series leader Yellow jersey, as Rach Pascoe didn't make the competition.

Although a tough format, the feedback from the competitors was they liked the way the prize money was won for placing in each of the 16 races and some 7 men and 7 Women benefitted.

Although now in Yellow for the Kings Race, Murphy certainly did not have it all herown way. She was beaten by Rhian Thomas in the overall points for the day as the Welsh girl showed she is getting fitter each week and has certainlyt put the early season slump in form behind her. Second went to Eva Murphy with Fay Mills finishing third.

The first 3 races in the mens competition looked like Robbie Sandbach may have the edge over a tired Humble , but as conditions worsened and the Aussie seemed to get stronger and stronger the writing was on the wall.

Other notable performances over the weekend were from Mesha Wardman and Lilly Nicholls and Tim Widdershoven and Craig Robinson in the mens comp.
