Race 2 Confirmed at Woolacombe - 10/03/10
After a long wait Legacy Events can now announce that Race 2 will take place at Woolacombe beach with a 6pm start time on July 17th. The gruelling Points accumulator format will mean there will be 4 groups of athletes. The elite men, elite women, U18 men and U16 girls who will contest the continuous format of racing each discipline individually.
1k run, 300m Swim, 400m Board, 500m Ski, 500m ski, 400m board, 300m swim, 250m run.
Last year at Aberavon in very cold conditions Dan Humble (this years Team Phanton captain sponsored by Bennett Europe took out the mens title with Rhian Thomas the Lady's captain of Team Hurricane sponsored by Hunter winning the elite womens field.
Having the smaller group format will mean wildcard entries will be accepted on the day too, giving other athletes the chance to show their skills for a possible team spot in 2011.
''It was a touch call whether to use this race format or the clasic Woolacombe Kings race'' said race organiser Mark Redrup, but this format plays to everyones strengths with 7 men and 7 women taking a share of the prize money last year!
