Woolacombe Nippers win the 'Ripper!!' - 21/06/10

With 3 to 4 foot surf conditions at Croyde beach this weekend for the Legacy Nipper Interclub it was clear this would be a real test for everyone. With 8 clubs attending this year the competition was outstandingly strong.

The teams from Wales were Pen-y-bont and Rest Bay, from Cornwall Portreath and Hayle and the 4 local North Devon clubs Bideford bay, Croyde, a few athletes from Saunton and Woolacombe.

The sun shone all day and it was almost impossible to predict which club would end up overall winners. Hayle dominated the female competition winning both the under 11 and 13 age groups respectively. Woolacombe won the under 11 boys section with Portreath dominating the under 13 boys. When all the scores were added together it was Woolacombe who ran out overall winners to take the Greenstick Ripper Nipper board for 1st prize.

Final results were
1st Woolacombe 750 pts
2nd Hayle 733
3rd Portreath 731
4th Pen-y-bont 726
5th Croyde 664
6th Bideford Bay 644
7th Rest Bay 639
8th Saunton Sands 172 with only 4 athletes!

The final mention goes to all the helpers on the day. Without your fantastic support the kids would not have had such a wonderful time. Thank you and roll on next year.
